Born in the eclectic metropolis of Barcelona, Chef Alain discovered his love for flavours through cooking with his grandmother. Growing up in Catalan culture, centered on the family kitchen, he experienced a rich symphony of aromas, tastes, and ingredients that shaped his culinary journey.

Named after his daughter, Olivia Restaurant & Lounge is an homage to Alain’s culinary past at some of the world’s most celebrated kitchens. Most notably, he spent a decade at the legendary elBulli—a three-Michelin-starred restaurant, five-time winner of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, and pioneer of molecular gastronomy.
At elBullitaller, elBulli’s dedicated food research lab, Alain honed his craft in culinary creativity and innovation, leaving a lasting imprint on his cooking today.

This prestigious experience opened doors for Alain to consult on high-profile restaurant openings in Spain, and he later traveled globally to lecture on gastronomy while collaborating with companies focused on advancing molecular gastronomy techniques and technologies.
Alain’s first introduction to Singapore was in 2012 as Executive Chef leading the launch of the acclaimed Catalunya restaurant.

In 2019, he launched Olivia Restaurant & Lounge in Singapore—his personal culinary masterpiece. There, Alain presents homestyle Catalan-inspired dishes, marrying traditional cooking methods with modern sensibilities. The menu embodies the richness of Barcelona’s dining scene, delivering hearty, honest comfort food infused with international flair.
